As part of his ongoing professional development, MPA’s trainee junior adviser Jack Burton has successfully completed the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) modules in Investment Planning and Discretionary Investment Management.

The exam in Investment Planning (AF4) is designed to develop in depth financial planning skills related to investments and the management of investment portfolios. Jack has been studying for it since November, following the successful completion of the (J10) Discretionary Investment Management module. In this, he further developed knowledge and understanding of the role, as well as expanded his capabilities in analysing and applying financial information and managing a portfolio.

While working full time and studying has been very tough for Jack, he has been supported by MPA as part of its ongoing commitment to education, learning and development. He explains how he has found ways to balance the load: “I’ve been splitting the studying into an hour before work and then another couple of hours in the evening, after work. The MPA team has been supportive by giving me revision leave and time off the day before and after, as well for attending exams. It’s also been great being in an environment to pick the brains of other financial advisers who have already completed the exams.”

Jack joined MPA back in February after completing his Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) level 4 Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning. These two recent exams are the latest milestones in his journey to reach CII Chartered status, which serves as a mark of technical competence and a universally recognised badge of professionalism in the field of financial planning and advice.
