Eagle eyed readers of The Telegraph’s Money section will have spotted a familiar name in this weekend’s edition (Saturday 19 February). We are pleased to have once again been asked to contribute to a Money Makeover, giving real life financial advice to a Telegraph reader.
Chartered Financial Planner Chris Wheeler provided his expert advice to reader Julie Cooper, a Canadian national living in Northumberland who had inherited £136,000 when her mother died. Some of her money was invested in the UK with St James’s Place, whilst the remaining £70,000 was in an easy access savings account in Canada, earning less than 1pc interest and being eaten away by inflation.
Julie was contemplating moving all the money back to the UK where it could be invested, or be used to pay off her mortgage and carry out home improvements.
