Over the next three months a group of seven Earlswood members are going to carry out a virtual walk/run/cycle from Lands End to John o’Groats to help raise much-needed funds for Earlswood Cricket Club and in turn increase awareness of mental health issues by supporting the charity MIND; https://www.mind.org.uk/

The pandemic has restricted many of us to staying at home, significantly reducing regular face-to-face contact. Exercise is more difficult under these circumstances and together with feeling cooped up there is an inevitable effect on mental health.

Earlswood Cricket Club actively encourage players of all ages and abilities to play cricket and has gone to every length to ensure, that where possible, that players can continue to play a sport that they love.

Unfortunately, like many sports clubs, Earlswood Cricket Club has suffered financially following the closure of the clubhouse over the summer, which acts as the clubs primary source of funding.

To enable Earlswood Cricket Club to continue next season they have been looking at alternative revenue streams.

In steps “The Magnificent Seven”….which consists of Phil McGovern, Bobby Banerjee, Michael Graham, Kevin Price, Steve Shale, Neil Thorne and Jez Ward.

Over the next three months they will be carrying out a virtual 1,000 mile walk/run/cycle from Lands End to John o’Groats with the aim to end up in the far north of Scotland by New Year’s Eve to enjoy Hogmanay. Every mile that they run, walk or cycle will be recorded on an app that can be followed by all to check progress.

All monies raised will be split between Earlswood Cricket club and mental health awareness charity MIND; https://www.mind.org.uk/

MIND provide advice and support to empower anyone experiencing a mental health problem. They campaign to improve services, raise awareness and promote understanding.
